Privacy Policy

Pakt ("Pakt", "we", "us") is operated by Joel Jaison. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Pakt, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

When you create an account and use Pakt, we collect:

  • Account details: name, email address, username, and a password (stored as a salted hash — we never store or can see your plain-text password).
  • Profile photo: if you upload one, a resized copy is stored on your account.
  • Planning preferences: things like food/movie/activity preferences, budget, availability, and personality settings you fill in during onboarding or Settings, used to power your AI planning agent.
  • Location: the locality/district/state/pincode you provide (or an address you verify), resolved to coordinates via Google's Geocoding API so your agent can find real, nearby venues.
  • Pakt content: the groups you create or join, and the messages, polls, and plans exchanged within them.
  • Payment records: if you upgrade to Pro, we store the Razorpay payment ID, order ID, and timestamp of your payment. We do not store your card, UPI, or bank details — those are handled entirely by Razorpay.

2. How we use your information

  • To run the negotiation between your AI agent and your group's agents, and to propose real venues and plans.
  • To operate your account (login, daily usage limits, Pro status).
  • To improve matching over time (e.g. remembering plans your group has previously confirmed or rejected).
  • To respond to support requests sent to the contact address below.

3. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers Pakt is built on, and only as needed for them to do their job:

  • OpenAI — processes your preferences and group conversation to generate agent responses, venue suggestions, and plan summaries.
  • Razorpay — processes Pro plan payments. Card/UPI details go directly to Razorpay; Pakt never receives them.
  • Google Maps Platform — resolves the address you provide into map coordinates.
  • Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB) and Vercel — host our database and application.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

4. Data retention & deletion

We keep your account and Pakt data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your data deleted, email us at the address below — we handle deletion requests manually and will confirm once it's done. There is currently no automated self-service "delete my account" button.

5. Cookies

Pakt uses a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. See our Cookie Policy for details.

6. Children's privacy

Pakt is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes meaningfully, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Pakt after a change means you accept the updated policy.
